Breast Implants Lift for Sagging Hanging Pendulous Breast Mastopexy G. Gregory Gallico, MD
Breast Implants for Lift Mastopexy for Deflated, Hanging, or Sagging Breasts
Breasts may become more pendulous in all women in time. Where the nipple was once well above the crease under the breast (the inframammary crease), in time has settled lower. Pregnancy, breast feeding, and weight change or gain may all contribute to the breast's sagging more or becoming more pendulous.
In some women the breasts have just lost volume and become more flattened in the upper portion so there is no cleavage with or without a bra. But the skin may not have stretched too much and the nipple may not have descended too far.
In this group of women breast implants alone my be all that is needed to restore the breasts to a size and contour which is fuller and higher.
This 39 year old mother of three, all of whom were breast fed, was concerned that her breasts had fallen and sagged down and lost volume particularly in the upper portion of the breast. Dr. Gallico placed breast implants through a lower breast crease (inframammary crease) incision under the chest pectoral muscle to restore fullness to the upper pole of the breast. A breast lift mastopexy would have lifted the nipple more and raised the lower portion of the breast away from the abdominal (tummy) wall, but would have resulted in more visible scars than the breast implants alone for refilling the deflated breasts.
This 33 year old mother of four, all of whom were breast fed, was concerned about the deflation and sagging of her breasts. Dr. Gallico filled out the breasts with breast implants placed through an inframammary (lower breast crease) incision. A breast lift mastopexy would have lifted the breasts more, but would have left more visible scarring. The implants have been placed under the pectoral muscle to leave the cleavage looking smooth and natural.
The same 33 year old mother of four is shown before and after breast implants alone to fill and 'lift' her breasts and create more cleavage in and out of clothing. Dr. Gallico filled out the breasts with breast implants placed through an inframammary (lower breast crease) incision. A breast lift mastopexy would have lifted the breasts more, but would have left more visible scarring. The implants have been placed under the pectoral muscle to leave the cleavage look smooth and natural.
