Male chest pectoral muscles may be unnaturally small or asymmetric. Men who perceive that their chest pectoral muscles can have pectoral muscle implants placed through an incision in the armpit to have their chest appearance improved in structure and symmetry.
The pectoral implants are specially designed or custom sculpted for men to match the natural contours of the male chest. (They are completely different from the breast implants placed in women. They are solid Silastic surgical rubber.) The implants are placed surgically under the normal pectoral muscle through an incision in the armpit to minimize the visibility of the scar.

This 27 year old man desired an increase in the prominence of his pectoral muscles. He was very fit from frequent bench press exercise, but could not increase the prominence of his chest pectoral muscles. (Before on the left;after on the right.)
POLAND'S SYNDROME CONGENITAL CHEST PECTORAL MUSCLE ABSENCE: Some men are born with an absence or small version of a pectoral muscle on one side of their chest. This congenital condition is called Poland's Syndrome. There are two parts to the normal pectoral muscle. Men with Poland's Syndrome may lack one or both. This absence of the pectoral muscle creates both a cosmetic and a functional defect. This deficit in the chest musculature can be improved from a cosmetic point of view by placing a pectoral muscle implant on one side only. Dr. Gallico will employ his artistic training to sculpt a custom implant on the patient's chest in the office before surgery. This custom 'sculpture' will be transformed into a permanent Silastic implant to be placed on the deficient side of the chest in surgery. The nipple on the affected side may be smaller and higher or completely absent compared to the opposite normal side and can be improved by lowering or creation.

A 32 year old an was born with a congenitally absent right chest pectoral muscle, Poland's Syndrome. A custom implant was sculpted by Dr. Gallico and placed through the armpit to improve symmetry with the normal left side. The right nipple may be lowered at a later date if the patient wishes..
