Dr. G. Gregory Gallico Prominent Stretched Nipple Reduction

Prominent Stretched Nipple from Breast Feeding Reduction

A woman's nipple may be too prominent or stick out too far because of natural growth or from breast feeding. This nipple prominence can be both a functional and an aesthetic concern. The prominent or stretched nipple can be reduced in size and prominence by surgical revision. The surgery can be performed under local anesthesia or during another breast surgical operation such as breast implants, breast lift, or breast reduction. Sensation and function will usually be retained.

Prominent or stretched nipples which stick out too much from breast feeding can be reduced and made less prominent by nipple reduction surgery.

This 35 year old woman was concerned about a prominent nipple which stuck out too far after breast feeding three children. At the time of having breast implant augmentation enlargement by dr. Gallico she had the nipples reduced in prominence so they did not stick out so far. Sensation and nipple function was retained. She is shown in before and after pictures. The amount or extent of nipple reduction inversion can be decided on by the patient.

This 29 year old woman had marked stretching of her nipples from breast feeding two children. The nipple had not only become too long, but rounded in a bulbous way. The result of Dr. Gallico's nipple reduction is shown in before and after pictures. The prominent nipple can be reduced to any degree the patient wishes with preservation of nipple sensation.

This 47 year old woman had breast fed three children and also over the years had undergone some deflation and sagging of her breasts. At the time of a subpectoral breast implant augmentation, the patient also had a reduction of her very prominent nipple in both height and diameter. The breast implant augmentation enhancement was performed through a periareolar (nipple) incision, the scar of which can be seen just at the lower border of the areola (nipple disc).
