Large or prominent ear lobes can be reduced to a more normal, less conspicuous size by plastic surgery. If your ear lobes are naturally large or have been stretched out by earrings, they can be restored to a more normal contour and size by ear lobe reduction.
The surgery can be performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient, and you can return to normal life activities immediately. If you have pierced ears, the holes can be corrected at the same time to keep earrings in the right position.

A 60 year old woman was concerned about the large size of her ear lobes which were naturally large, but had also been stretched out by years of pierced earrings. Her ears (operated on during face lift surgery) are shown before and after ear lobe reduction and repiercing plastic surgery to to return the ear lobe to a more normal balance with the rest of the ear and to centralize the earring . Any scars are hidden in the contours of the ear.

The size of the Buddha's era lobes were a sign of his wisdom, but perhaps they, too, could have been reduced without loss of his sagacity?
